Planning safas for your baraat: numbers, colours and timing

Planning safas for your baraat: numbers, colours and timing

A baraat in matching safas is one of the most photographed moments of a wedding, and one of the easiest to get wrong if it is left to the morning of the event. This is how to plan it calmly.

Start with an honest headcount

Write down everyone who will walk in the baraat, not just the people who say they want a safa today. Then split the list.

  • Men in the family and close friends
  • Elders who may prefer a different style or colour
  • Women, if they will wear phetas or safas too
  • Children, since they need smaller sizes

Keep a little room for relatives who confirm late. Share the split with us when you enquire, not only the total.

Choose a colour plan everyone can agree on

One colour for everyone

The most striking option in photographs. Pick a colour from the wedding card, the décor or the season, and set the groom apart through fabric, border or kalgi.

Two groups

Family in one shade and friends in another makes it easy to tell the two sides apart, and each group gets its own look.

A quieter style for elders

Fathers, uncles and grandfathers often prefer a traditional print or a softer shade that suits their sherwani or jodhpuri.

Plan the wedding-day timing

Getting a group ready takes time, and the baraat cannot leave until the last person is ready. A few habits help.

  • Fix a reporting time well before the baraat departs and share it with everyone
  • Gather everyone in one room or hall, close to where the baraat starts
  • Dress elders and the groom’s immediate family first
  • Name one person to coordinate with us, so questions do not come from ten phones at once

When you book, ask us how much time to keep for your group size and confirm the arrangement for your venue.

After the celebration

Collect every rented safa in one bag before guests leave the venue. Counting them then is far easier than chasing relatives the next day. Return them on the date agreed at booking.

Book once the date is fixed

Popular muhurat dates are shared by many families, and large matching orders need the most notice. More on baraat and family safas, or send an enquiry.
